Jacoby Brissett threw 48 passes last Sunday, and he's rostered in just 19.5% of ESPN leagues. He's the top claim, and he's a start at Dallas, not a bench body. The other opening is in New York, where the Giants have no game. Isaiah Likely managers need a tight end, and Hunter Henry is the claim.
Receipts
Michael Penix Jr., add. Two Tuesdays ago we said add him, and he gave you 23.1 points, a top-five quarterback week. Good call.
Cade Otton, add. Same piece, same call. He scored 0.9. Miss, and now he's a drop.
Top claims
Brissett (ARI, QB): add and start. Nothing happened to him. He's Arizona's quarterback, and the league just hasn't caught on. The proof is volume: 40.3 pass attempts and 3.7 rushes a game. Last week he threw 48 times for 272 yards and a touchdown. His 16.5 points landed right on his 16.2 season average, and that steadiness is the point. Forty throws a game is a floor that doesn't need a perfect script.
FAAB: we'd bid 8 to 12% in one-QB leagues and 20% or more in superflex. Drop: Daniel Jones. Brissett or Geno Smith? Brissett. What changes the order: in a one-QB league with a locked-in starter, he's a bench luxury, and Henry goes first.
Henry (NE, TE): add and start. The Giants' bye opened this one. Likely managers need a body. Five red-zone looks on the season keep a touchdown in play. New England plays at Miami in the late window.
FAAB: 5 to 8%. If he is, AJ Barner is the fallback. Drop: Otton. What would flip it: if your regular tight end plays this week, Henry slides below Penix.
Omar Cooper Jr. (NYJ, WR): add, bench him this week. The rookie is the Jets' second receiver on the depth chart, and last week he caught all five targets for 115 yards and a touchdown. That 20-point game will drive the bidding. Bid on the role instead: across three games he's played 50% of the snaps with a 16% target share and 4.3 targets a game. He's scored 14.3 points a game on usage worth about 7.2, so we expect the scoring to come down if the role holds. The Jets host Las Vegas.
FAAB: 4 to 7%, and not a dollar more. Someone in your league will bid like 115 yards is the floor. Let them. Drop: Darren Waller.
Samaje Perine (CIN, RB): add, keep him benched. He's the best back on the wire, and he still isn't a start. He's Cincinnati's backup, and the work is growing: 10.0 opportunities a game across the last two games, up from 5.3 before. He has 10 red-zone looks on the season and turned four carries into a touchdown last week. He's a change-of-pace back with a 23% rush share, so most weeks he needs a score to matter. The Bengals host Tennessee.
FAAB: 3 to 5%, or a mid-tier priority claim. Drop: Sean Tucker.
Adds by position
QB: Penix, add. He's averaging 17.1 points a game, threw three touchdowns last week, and is still rostered in just 12.8% of ESPN leagues. Add him in superflex and two-QB leagues, right behind Brissett.
QB: Smith, stream. The Jets' starter threw three touchdowns last week and averages 29.6 attempts a game. He's the home fill-in against Las Vegas if Brissett and Penix are gone.
TE: Barner, add. Seattle's every-down tight end plays 88% of the snaps and hosts Chicago on Monday night, so you'll know exactly what you need before you play him. Henry or Barner? Henry, for the recent targets.
Stashes
- Zonovan Knight, stash. Third on Arizona's depth chart, yet he's played 49% of the snaps in the last two games with 14.5 opportunities a game. If the depth chart catches up to the snap count, we'd FLEX him.
- George Holani, stash. Seattle's third back has 11 red-zone looks and climbing snaps. An injury to either back ahead of him puts him in our FLEX mix.
- Dylan Sampson, stash. Cleveland's backup played 32 snaps last week and caught all three of his targets.
- Ryan Flournoy, stash. One injury ahead of him and we'd FLEX him in deep leagues.
Drops
- Cut Jones for Brissett. His new multi-year deal keeps him in Indianapolis. It doesn't have to keep him on your roster.
- Cut Otton for Henry. Henry is at 6.0 opportunities a game and caught 7 of 7 last week.
- Cut Waller for Cooper. Last week's touchdown came on two targets. Don't chase it.
Put the phone down: Likely, hold. The Giants have no game, and his last outing was 2.2 points. Neither is a reason to cut him. He owns a 27% target share, 9.0 targets a game and 89% of the snaps in his past two outings. Hold through the bye. We'd only move off him if the targets don't come back after it.
