How we pickWhat ranks, what doesn't and why
- We rank only products with a release date behind us, a league license, a retailer price checked in the last 30 days and the inputs that goal needs. A product still to come appears only on the release calendar. One with no sourced release date stays in the price table, flagged and unranked.
- If a format's highest listed price is more than 1.35 times its lowest, we flag it "prices conflict", show the range and rank nothing.
- An agent rereads each seller's page weekly. A price counts only if it quotes the page and sits near the last one; otherwise the old row ages out. A box out of stock everywhere stays in the table and leaves the picks.
- Every sum and every budget band uses the lowest listed price. Under $100 includes everything under $25. Over $300 starts at $300 and skips First pack and Most cards.
- Costs per pack, card, autograph and chase card stay apart. We never compare a chase card with an autograph, and we don't publish a "cost per hit". A chase card is ranked only against the same card, and each list shows up to three chase cards. The Chase cards list below has them all.
- Resale break-even is what the sealed box must sell for to cover its price after selling fees: price ÷ (1 − fee). We use a 13.25% fee (source).
- Best means best on the stated measure, at the stated price, on the stated date. It is not a forecast of what the cards inside will sell for.
True expected value: not computed, because FCT does not yet hold licensed sale prices.
